    Help with high Turret Mount

After a while I have decided to switch my LSR mount to a high turret mount.
Now I would like to use my K98 for my scope but still has to be able to function as a normal infantry rifle. So the option to weld the mount on the rifle is not a option. I have heard the screws only aint enough.

Now I am wondering if someone can tell me if they know another good option for this. Its for re-enactment purpose and I am useing a original kaliber K98.

    Regards,

Why would You not use either of these system with either You mentioned the regular Sights can still be used with optics inplace . as far as the LSR Mount it has also Two Mounting Pins and Three Mounting Screws which is quite adequate

      Help with HTM

G Day Shifty, Mate I think I understand your question, Yes you can use your iron sights with a LSR mount fitted as in a normal infantry role. No you will not be able too with the HTM ones fitted. Yes the HT mounts will hold if fitted correctly with just the screws only. Hope this helps with your decession Steve.

        Thanks Steve,

Though the screws wouldnt be enough to keep the HTM inplace when a couple shots been fired. Then when if I will switch from sniper to infantry I will just need to take out the screws so the mount will get off.

With HTM it is still possible to use iron sights, there is a hole in the mounts, which makes it possible, please see the photo of my repro mounts, the holes is visible.

I am already getting excited that its going to look like that.
Really nice rifle you got there hcs. I will be buying my mount soon but I understand that screws should be enough to hold the mount in place and keep it that way when taking a some shots.

btw, where did you get the rubber lens cap? trying to find one but the ones from $37 are bit to expencive for a piece of rubber if u ask me.
If anyone also know where to get sun/rain shields let me know, havent found a dealer for it.

              Hi Shiftyfreak

The scope with repro mount and rubber cap is from Robert Spielauer from Austria, he makes a very nice job. The scope is not mounted on the rifle yet, it is attached with double adhesive tape on the picture, my plans is to get it soldered as the originals were, but since it is an expensive job, I haven't had it fixed yet, it is also a matter of getting the right guy to do the job, because I want it to look as close as the original as possible. The rifle had a sporterized(cut down) stock when one of my friends got it, he swapped the stock for a complete, the front sight has been cut, because the stock also was cut, therefore I had the front sight replaced, when I bourght it from him. The manufacturer and year of production stamp above chamber has been removed, because of that I wanted to mount a LTM or HTM scope. This was my way of getting a "sniper" shooter I could afford.

To not destroy my rifle to not make taps I was considering to use metal glue to keep the mount on and when finished heating the glue and remove it.

I am wondering if this is a good idea or someone else got a better idea to easly get on and off the scope mounts and still good to use as a normal regular K98.
