Is this tiny Periscope WW2 German?

I have two of these items. They are each about 5.5 cms in length.

If you look down the tube, the optics provide a 90 degree view.

I believe it is gun related. Take a look at the dimensions and find what caliber it fits. My gut feeling is that it is British or American.
