The price against them has been put up a little higher than this so maybe an offer is required

Yes i could image because the auction is not for nothing drawing back. Some people want a top prices for there proffered so it's your decision how much you want to pay. It's a nice specimen if i look at the bino the only think that's me disturbed is the black paint but maybe it's removable???? Success with your potential purchase

Nice binuculars but the paint is not right.
If you get them for a nice price take the chance on that you could remowed the black paint.

Some of these were repainted post WW2. I have been told dealers in the UK did this. I have one (God knows where) that has been painted black after it left the factory. It has not been applied after 1945 and was most likely done because the plastic like thick pea green paint was flaking of. If this was done on a large scale during the war I am not sure of but any naval officer (and enlisted men) detests the colour green. The reason I know it was applied during the war is that someone delivered it to a repair shop in 1945 and never picked it up after it was repaired. The paint shows wear and is of a poor quality consistent with late WW2 manufacture. I have come across a couple of these that might be repainted during WW2 but I am afraid the majority of paint jobs are post WW2.
