zf4 scope mounts

Hi guys I'm hoping one of the sniper scope guru's can tell me what kind of mounts are on this scope. Also were these scopes only used on G43's?

Thats some kind of post war rig of some sort, not WWII. ZF4s were used on G/K 43's, FG42's and even some rare K98 scope mounts.

Hi guys
With some help from a member I have found out that this is a mount for a FG42 (Fallschirmjägergewehr-42 or Paratrooper's rifle, Model 1942) They made two models of this machine gun with about 7000 total made.
This scope and mount would have went on the second model rifle. All of guns were issued with the scopes and the mount was ser# to the gun.
The second model is very rare to find because it was not produced until late in the war and most of the App. 5000 made were never released to the troops.

Yes, when I saw the first photo I knew they were 2nd model FG42 mounts. And, numbered as well!

To my shame I did not recognize the mount at once, but I do not indulge in FG42, since it is too rare to be seen. It is interesting that the scope does neither bear the "L" often described as being the mark for scopes being made for the Luftwaffe nor the extra FG engraving seen sometimes. If the mounts are original this makes 9400 USD for the mount alone.... given the rarity, acceptable if original. It is interesting that we are prepared to pay that much for a rather easy to make piece of metal, just because it was produced in the wartime era. But when I read that 43 millions of dollars are paid for an early 1962 print from Andy Warhol, our madness is excusable.
