Are there any other markings? "frn44" is a common maker of those pull down latches; commonly seen on gas mask cans.

nice case but not military, it's made after the war. they used old parts for the case, only the pull down latche is made befor 1945.

ok , might have been after the war, the rest from individual stocks assembled,
but is it sure ? . i dont know . only the one marking sayd its in 44 made .

          hy Andi

the pull down latche is made 1944, there are many other civilain case with old stock pull down latches.

Why I say its not military:

          - I think there are no loops for the belt and
          - there is a order from 1943 to deliver the case without the shoulder strap
the soldiers get the strap only by an special order
          - the color and the finish isn't military

thanks for these points Benutzer. Im looking for a '43 dated example but I am just learning with these. this info helps me sort out before I look at something too deep. Glenn

                strange,
I spoke today with the former owner of the cover . a former uscha. of panzeraufklärungsabteilung 10 frundsberg.
He says that the bag in March 45 to its recent recovery was wounded, but he could never use it because never a bino presented itself.

                thanks Andi

The binocular case latch seems to be standard WWII German issue. The appearance of the case looks not to be WWII issue either in design or colour. The case does not appear to be maker marked, property marked or acceptance marked. When evaluating such “one off” items my inclination is buy the item and not the story.
