    Luftwaffe Aerial Reconnaissance Camera

    Here's a camera I'll be getting this week. One small knob is missing, and the leather hand strap is broken, but it can be restored.

                  On the top of the case, there are two strips of cloth tape affixed. This camera was sent home by the vet, Staff Sgt. Samuel Patt. He is indeed on the roster of the 30th photo reconnaissance squadron. Part of their job was to recon for D-Day.

                    Here's a photo of the French coast taken by the 30th PRS in May of 1944. You can clearly see there are German soldiers erecting obstacles on the beach, and some are running from the low-flying aircraft, probably anticipating being strafed.
