Can someone tell me the purpose of re-matching a bayonet during war ??

Think it's done to trick people, especially the double 3..., why double ?
It's not a back-bouncer so to speak, cause both numbers are very cleary struck..

It makes no sence, you are right on that one Jos....

Bajonets are in the same order as weapons as the K98, when some parts were missing or were replaced the new parts (un-numbered) were stamped with the number of the weapon..

        Never with old parts overstamped.....

The numbers on the the scabbard are very clear struck, over the other ones.....

I hope this will be the first and the last that I will see....... What are people thinking that perform those tricks
        A difference of 20 or 30 euro's

Well items with matching numbers will go for higher prices so what a better way to jack up the price of an item re-stamp it possibly re-blue it as well.

                Hello
I agree , the bayonet was also reblued . They used larger # for the re-stamping too .
                I guess we can call a " someone's basement " arsenal refinished !!!
                Regards
