    Dienstglas 6 X 30 53568. H/6400

    Can anybody here tell me if they are WW2 issue and what do the numbers 53568 AND H/6400 mean
    !

      Hi Slim,
      Looking at your binoculars I would date them pre/early war going by the serial number and the fact that they still have the full makers name and not the later wartime code used by this company (which was bmk).

      They are made by "Srb & Stys, Fabrik praeziser Messinstrumente, Prag" who around 1940 started marking their binoculars with the three letter code "bmk".

      Dienstglas means "service binoculars" which were used by all the armed forces except the Kriegsmarine (which should NEVER have the word Dienstglas marked on their binoculars).

      The 6x30 marking indicates that they have 6x magnification and that the objective lenses are 30mm in diameter.

      The H/6400 marking is the Heeres Strich grade system which wasn't used by the KM. It stretches from 0 to 6400 'Strich' for more accuracy. Basically it means there should be a ranging grid in the right eyepice. This was usually removed after the war if the bino's were privately used.

      The 53568 is of course just the serial number.

      Nice pair with the buttonflap and case.....

        Known optical firm Srb+Stys Prag,Czech,pre 1945 produced to WH-Heer.Possibly from reserve Czech army 1939 and additional marked WH-take over service in optical firm.
