    Luftwaffe Leica camera

Hi, came across these two beauties at a fleemarket today.
The seller asked 320$ per piece.
Took some pictures, though it was early so I messed up and forgot to set th ISO down.. hope the pictures still work hehe.
What im wonderin is, are these originals? (if you can tell from the pic)
What are the difference between them? one being gold/metal and the other silver/metal.

    Cheers,
    Chris

By the way, do any of you know if any of these lenses are used by these cameras? (if so Id have to invest on them as well )

In my opinion these are fake. What has to do that eagle with the Luftwaffe??

This is an original Luftwaffe Leika: http://www.cameraquest.com/luft.htm

But the fakes are in great quality: http://www.cameraquest.com/rusky2.htm

And why has it got "Germany" written on it?

      These have been discussed recently.

      Cheers,

Most interesting are the P and D letters, seen on the right side of the last picture P and D... in Cyrillic alphabet A Russian capture That's a Soviet camera, made to look like what it is not

The camera is not even a Leica, but a clone currently made. There are also converted cameras, by the same company, which were made to look like the Leica, and now have been re-marked Leica with fanciful military engravings and stamps. They are worth about $35.oo

                Luftwaffen spelling

Luftwaffen eigentum = Airforce's property. So it is correctly spelled in German with an "n" at the end...So the fakers did get that right! It's still Russian junk... Nick

Thanks alot for the reply guys!
I had no experience with these cameras from before, but indeed I was wondering when I saw the russian carracters there, but who knows what some of these went through.
Anyway, I agree these are fakes, but he had another one, under these two, which was with out the swasticas, and said the Engenum etc.
Which was actually half the price.. he didnt seem to know much about these so he probably thought they where real.
Anyway, what im wondering is does any of you have any pictures of the same type of camera as the silver one, in other variations of faked?
Or whats typical about the faked ones.
Id have a little hope that the third one which I didnt think much of, actually may be real hehe.
Going to check it out next week, so id like to be prepaired

I think there are far too many variations of the fakes. It will be much easier for you to search information about the originals - they will be probably only a few types - and all the rest are fakes.
