hiya,
these binoculars were bought of a lady whose father was a Royal Marine Commando. she say's that her father aquired them along with a leather coat of a u-boat filled with merry german sailors and women! they were taken when the marines stormed the u-boat docks in hamburg at the wars end. apparantly hans seegers has an example of huet paris bins in his book Militärische Ferngläser und Fernrohre in Heer, Luftwaffe und Marine =: Military binoculars and telescopes for land, air and sea service. does anyone have a copy to compair.i took them to a guy for a quote to clean them and he thinks that the little coloured glass piece that slides in and out of the eyepiece slot could have been for improved night vision. as you can see they were well used and any comments on these would be welcome.
