Leitz (beh) 8x60 VS Zeiss (blc) 8x60

Another question for the resident experts.

I have the opportunity to buy a Kriegsmarine Leitz 8x60 binocular. I am wondering how this particular glass compares to the Zeiss 8x60 (either the "tall" or "fat")
In some articles, I have read that the Leitz model is "not very good", and that "it is fragile"
I am not interested in a "display" model - I use the binoculars in my small collection.

Leitz tended to specialise in high resolution binoculars with small angle views - Zeiss went the reverse so it's no surprise that people rave about the wide angle images of blc binos. A famous author mentioned that the beh 8x60 was lacking and it helped keep the price down for a few years but people are now appreciating them and the prices are rising. Different binos are made for different purposes so it's difficult to compare. Best advice - get one of each and see for yourself. I did and don't regret it.

It's hard to say - they both have their strengths and weakneses. In a post apocalyptic world though I'd probably opt for a 6x30. Imagine humphing an 8x60 into Barter Town.

To be honest the beh 8x60 is far more scarce than either Ziess variant. Just in the amount that I have seen in my years of seaching. Once properly serviced they have amazing optics. They typically haze up just like the 7x50 smaller sibling. If you can buy a set right buy them !
