    Kriegsmarine 7x50 Flak 140 binocular!

    Hello to you all,

I have some questions about my latest find!
It´s a very nice Carl Zeiss Jena Kriegsmarine marked 7x50 binocular.
I´ve been looking on the internet but couldn´t find exactly the same.

What I´d like to know is if the Flak 140 marking is just the name of the model?

I know it is of ww2 date but is it possible to get more precise about the date?

Does anyone of you know where I can get the missing eyecap protector with the elastik that is supposed to be connected to the hook inbetween the eyecups?

    Any info is very welcome!

    Well here it is!

                Nice set

Eric, Hans Seeger dates this set and the batch it came from to MAy 1939 , a batch of 500 , 8 of the 500 being known to Dr. Seeger.

The rainguard will be hard to obtain , its probably a leather "benutzer" spring mounted to tension over the occulars.

Have not seen one marked as "Flak" its a hard to get set I would imagine.
My advice would be to hang on to it.

                  Thanks!

                  Hello behblc,

Thanks for the very welcome information about the precise date and further information!
I must say I´ve become more interested in German binoculars since i bought this one and a 10x50 lately but I don´t have mr Seegers book although I´ve heard it´s worth the money.

Thank´s again and don´t worry...............I like it to much to let it go
                  All the best, Eric

                    Dr. Seeger's "Grey Book".

Han's " Grey Book" is certainly worth the money, if you are going to go for optics there is a lot in it.
Presently its the best reference book that can be had.

                      update on my binocular.....

                      Hello there,

Thought I would share some images of the bakelite rainguard I found for my binocular to see iff there´s a chance this is the right model used on these!

Found it in a box with old binocular parts in a antiqueshop overhere.

                            Benutzer.

The benutzer / rainguard is unfortunately not the right type.
Would be most likely this type , but they are so hard to come by you did well to get the one in use.

                              Hello James,

Thank you very much for your reply´s.

I must admit I thought my rainguard looked a bit to "fancy" to be military but for the time being it is a nice one......just have to wait untill the day I find a good one as on your picture!
Who knows. I never stop dreaming...and searching....
                              All the best, Eric
