    Help dating 10x50 blc binocular

    Hi guys,

Today was one of my better fleamarket days!
I bought a nice 10x50 blc marked binocular with rubber eyecap and strap.
After doing a search here on WA I saw it is possible to date these and would be pleased with any help and further info on these bino´s!

There is no scale in any of the lenses.

These manufacture codes were used 1939-45..

blc is the code for Carl Zeiss, Jena

        Hope this helps

          thanks

          Hi George,

          Thanks for your reply ,

Sorry I forgot to mention I already know who made the binocular and that it is of ww2 origin.
I was trying to date them more precise in between the dates you mentioned .

            Hi Eric,

I will give my humble opinion. This binoculars is one out of 23.100 made. This one is made between ca. 1943-1945. Above the serial number there must be the word "dienstglas". Can you see if this is overpainted or something?

Nice binoculars by the way. Ik hoop dat je hier wat aan hebt.

              Hoi Frans,

              Thanks for the information.
And I thought the number 1522 could be a rather low serialnumber! hahaha
I assume Carl Zeis made most of these 10x50´s?

About the Dienstglas marking......I can´t see any.....Iff it would be grind out there would be traces of that I assume but the surface above the 10x50 sign is very smooth and of the same thickness as the rest.

Though the plates seem to be repainted ( see the filled in scratch next to the blc +) so it is possible somebody did a great job removing the text.
the repaint shows a lot of those wrinkles you see in old paintings so it looks it is on there a long time.

I don´t know where the seller got it from but he sure didn´t know what he was selling

              Groetjes Eric de Zuudbevelander....

                not exactly

codes were introduced in late 1940.. and those starting with
b were introduced in early 1941
