Questions regarding Japanese WW2 Nikko 10x70mm Binoculars

I have a pair of Japanese WW2 Nikko 10x70mm binoculars with a 7 degree FOV. SN is 12XXX.

Just above the pivot screw there is a small silver area with a black star in a circle. What does that signify?

Most of these that I have seen are in a wooden box. These came with a leather case. Does that impact the desirability?

    Thanks.

The star in a circle is the emblem of the Japanese Air Force - sometimes it's branded into the wooden box too (my one is).

Thanks - I read that somewhere but forget what it said.
