    Luftwaffe General Collar Tab Opinions

Hi guys. Can I hear your opinions about these collar tabs. Compared to what I've seen on some bigger dealer sites they look good to me. They do not glow under a UV light.

    Thanks! G

              DCM,

Lacking a response from those who’ve offered their opinions on your tabs, I’m ‘guessing’ the respondents are seeing a certain feature on your tabs that’re giving them pause and then apoplexy resulting in a snap decision that the examples shown are produced by our favorite needle & thread wielding Pashtuns. The feature is, of course, the infamous “double chevrons” of Gary’s signature thread (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...06354#poststop).

In the aforementioned thread Gary opined that were three ‘features’ present in a pair/single tab, then one can bet their mortgage money that the resultant tabs are fake. The three features included, first and foremost, double chevrons at the based of the wreath (an artistic flair of the embroiderer which is seen from time to time and NOT part of the wreath design ~ see my thread http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=unterlagen), the second feature is the excess piping tacked down in the shape of a ‘U’ (not present in the subject pair) on the reverse of the tab and finally the rank gulls being large enough to ‘crowd’ (touch) the wreath (again, not present in the subject tabs). While I’m not a fan of Gary’s theory, I do recall that he expressed his belief that a tab required this concoction of features (chevron, big gulls & ‘U’ shaped piping tack down) to be deemed a “double chevron fake”. Lacking all three, the subject tabs may not be...

If this wasn’t the basis of their opinion, I look forward to reading what prompted their remarks just as you do.

These are not double chevron tabs and share none of the features of them. At least one of the repliers to this thread,Steve, is quite familiar with the double thread tabs so his comments are based on other factors.

The presence of unterlagen does not make a tab real. There are some real tabs without any I unterlagen. Additionally there are repels with unterlagen.

As Gary already said, no double chevrons. I have no clue why Rick C always try to turn every tab comment to this feature even if the tabs in question look completely different.

These tabs have typical features (i. e. the vertical stitched gulls with broad ends) as well as questionable materials which point to older Italian repro manufacture IMO.

I saw two lines of chevron stitching and presumed this was your trigger. Of course, if folks actually 'articulated' why they were making a judgement, perhaps folks wouldn't need to 'guess' at what the heck you're blackballing something for.
