This is on and removed from a flight tunic I have had since 1980, is any of it good?


The buttons for the shoulder boards are metal prongs pushed in and bent out.
The boards seem smaller than average too, 1-3/8" (3.5cm) wide and 3-3/4" (9.5cm) long


The tabs were just hand sewn to the collar, so easily removed.

Not surprised the tunic pieces are bad but looking through the 'double chevron' thread, the captain tabs don't look the same as those, at least to me.


I will bring them to the SOS to get some hands on views.

I agree on the tabs, but for clarification I think the boards are put together from original parts being Heer slip-on Infantry bases (due to the evidence of two numbers once being poked through) and either Heer dress quality plaiting, or Luftwaffe plaiting being added on. These were clearly put together as the Heer did not have a garment designed to take a slip-on dress quality board.

So as the others have said "bad boards" but only because they are post-war put togethers using original parts. If these were sew-ins it would be impossible to tell as long as no numbers were poked through at one time.
