LW "medical" 4 pocket tunic at Virtual Grenadier

    Hi All,

I looked at Mike Davis´ site and saw this LW "Medical" 4 pocket tunic.

    https://virtualgrenadier.com/sale_item.php?iid=5268

First, I want to say that I wrote the same to Mike Davis as I post here.

I do not think it is medical at all.

For me, when I first looked at it, it looked like TSD. The color of the tabs are not dark blue on my monitor. It could be my monitor, the way the photo was taken etc.

But when you look at the name-tag, it says "Oberinsp..." and it was produced in 1942.

To me, I believe it is an old Beamten tunic that was changed in 1944 as the owner moved to the TSD.
And if so, the shoulder boards are wrong.

I cannot download the photos from Mike´s site as you all know.

    What do you people think.?.

    best regards,

    Hans Kristian

Looks like someone replaced missing TSD cyphers with medical, assuming it was for a doctor. Oberinsp is administrative, which matches with a TSD covered career field (post- Nov1944 transition).

Ahhh...this one. I remember seeing this when it was first listed but agree, TSD farbe. Seeing the missing cyphers replaced with medical is so common.

As with every uniform you’d need to inspect in-hand if you were interested. Although since it’s not medical it probably wouldn’t be for you anyway!

          Best,

          Jason

Unfortunately I have not received the email referred to by the OP but I do agree with the observations about Waffenfarbe and cyphers. I will contact the consignor and then adjust the description accordingly. Many thanks.

Yes, I agree it is not for me, but I still find it interesting, as it must have had a change of insignia when the Oberinspekteur was moving from Beamten-status to TSD status.

                Best regards,
                Hans Kristian

TSD for a luft officer is still a rather uncommon tunic to find. Looks like a nice tailor made tunic.

I agree, and it is named, so there is some research to do - if someone can read the man´s name..

TSD consisted of a number of different specialties. There were some medical specialties as well... Pharmacy, Psychology, and etc... I have to look to see if any of them were eligible for TSD integration. If that is the case, the medical staff/serpent COULD be a period addition (whether against regulations or not).

Unlikely. Unless that Beamer was also a higher award winner of some kind, collected info. on these branches is scant at best.

Sorry about that! The site's code includes a utility that rejects messages from IPs considered 'malicious'. On occasion it is a bit overzealous and we are working to fix it.

RE: the description, I should have more carefully noticed the color differences rather than assuming fading. I will modify the item description today and add this discussion thread.
