    HG Divsion Unterfeldwebel Straps

All, would appreciate opinions on these straps. They belong to this tunic: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=952432

As always, many thanks for any help!

    Don

I would like to see the open end of the litzen overlap where it's sewn down versus the small gap, but I don't think that automatically makes them bad. Just a comfort level thing.

How is the stitching on the top of the "keyhole" for the buttons on both the boards and the tongues? Repops seldom have the quality finish of original stitching around the top of the keyhole.

I have a RGG tunic inbound. I could bring it over after it arrives.

Not the definitive expert but they look fine to me. The rayon on the tonques, and (in the thread with the whole tunic) the collar underside material, the lack of collar piping, the lack of branch piping around the tabs and the eagle all suggest wartime manufacture. Oh, and of course the fact that the boards are slip-on.

I just got an early tunic in and posted it.

Thanks, All - Much appreciated. Todd, I would guess that the tunic dates to 1942 - early 1943 based on the strap and Spiegel combination.

                    Very solid estimate. I agree.
