    Special flak visor

    Hello,

I'm sharing pics of my new item, a flak visor for a future officer.
The visor is in very good condition. Maker is LR Zeumer from Mannheim.
Eagle is a 1st pattern one. Can anyone tell me when the cap was produced (approximately?).
The size is a bit small (54!)

I hope you like it too, I think it's not very common to find.

    Those are reverse-twist chincords.
They are very rarely found on original TR headgear, and reverse-twist is common to DDR visors.

I would check the cords for glow under UV light, and check to see if the stiffener in the large knot is metal. If it glows, and is plastic or plated metal, it is postwar.

      Hello,

I checked the stiffener, it' appears to be a white stuff (I would say some platic).
I don't have an UV light, how could I check that? Or is it enough to say that the cords are fake?

New question: are those cords the only wrong thing on it? The cap looks good to me in hands, but I'm more a medal collector than a cap collector...
Is the cap totally wrong, or only the cords which are added to "upgrade" a standard EM or NCO cap?

      I added more pics.

Agree. Here for reference sake is a pic of an Infantry officer wearing reverse-twist cords.

Nice Flak by the way. If you can find a "proper" Luftwaffe EM/NCO chinstrap with oval buckles you'll have a beautiful cap. Good hunting!

Thank you guys for your help. I'm not lossing all my money then...
I'll find the good stuff to put on it.

It's nevertheless an early flak cap. Eagle is a 1st pattern one and seems not to be added after war. Is it possible to say that's a 1935-1937 dated cap? I've been told this eagle wasn't mounted after 1937 anymore.

The hat itself is 100% original, made by Pekuro and distributed by Zeumer.
              It is a private-purchase cap.

Waffenreich is correct--you need a leather chinstrap. Check Ebay, they pop up from time to time.

I'll go out on a limb here and say if you very gently do a rolling inspection on the backside of the sweatband you may find some markings that will help you date that hat or indicate the unit.

It is rarely found on Pekuro made visors, but Zeumer or the soldier's unit may have marked it.

                Standing by for good news

I checked the backside of the sweatband when I received it, nothing unfortunately...
