Very unusual shoulder straps for US Vet

These came in a grouping of US items for a man who reportedly served in Italy with the US 91st Division. They are about half the thickness of manufactured issue boards and are similar to LW HBT boards and boards worn with shirts. The piping is orange rayon. The have been torn off a jacket from the tongues. The base fabric is a hard material similar to HBT or almost the fabric used for rucksacks, the black backing material is like shirt material. Nothing reacts to UV light.

I normally collect only Army and have not seen boards like this before. I thoguht to ask if anyone else has? Thank you.

What color is the piping? Faded Red, Orange, or pink?

It looks like it could be OK to me. A late war improvised set?

Feldgendarmerie orange ? Perhaps made to color match the green LW HBT 4 pocket uniform?
(Straps are of course not HBT...but the braid is LW pattern tresse!)

Thanks for the answers, they are orange and are a bit faded but not heavily faded from red etc. Here are some images of them in daylight compared with Army orange piped boards that IMO are FG.

Reportedly the Luftwaffe used light blue Waffenfarbe for Field Piolice.

They used Transport color blue before the war and early on but then switched to the Army color for FG in 1943.

Thanks Don, have you seen other ones similar to this? I am guessing maybe as suggested made for an HBT or maybe a shirt?
