I have no expertise in this area.

However I do know that this example is an original though cut short to be mounted in a scrapbook.

The FJR1 cuff-title that started this thread, post numbers 1,2 & 3 is embroidered on a "Camel Hair"/ Velveteen backing. There was a thread some years ago on WAF where an advanced collector in Germany stated that all FJR cuff-titles, made before May 1945 had to be embroidered into a wool backing, like the ones shown in this thread;

He went on to say that the examples embroidered on Camel Hair/ Velveteen were all post war creations. That seemed a bit narrow to me and I can not see why Camel Hair/ Velveteen could not have been used like it was for the "Afrika" cuff-titles made during WW2.

Is this right or wrong and are there in fact some original pre-May 1945 FJR cuff-titles made from Camel Hair/ Velveteen ?
