    Some questions about the Blendspiegel

Hello Gentlemen, some questions about the signal mirror "Blendspiegel":

    - When it was issued?
    - Does it was already present in the equipment of a fighter pilot in the summer of 1940 (Battle of Britain)?
    - If so, where was hold (trouser pocket, a separate bag, lifeboat pack, etc)?

    Thank you, Dani.

Till this moment we haven't seen one single photo where we can see a fighter pilot with mirror.
The mirror was part of the big life boats, only one mirror for the whole crew.
As far as I know they were not for wear in the pocket or on the body by a single person.

    Jos.

      Hi Dani,

The Blendspiegel wasn't present in the Battle of Britain.

Regarding the FL Number it wasn't introduced before the mid of 1942.

      Best regards,
      Lukas

Karl Born is mentioning their use in his excellent book "Rettung zwischen den Fronten".

            Hi Lukas,

do you mean, maybe, to say the Rbnr codes?

In my opinion, the FL Numbers were already present in the early years of the war.

            I'm wrong?

              You are right!
The FL numbers already were present early in the war and before the war.
              But these had 5 numbers.
Later in the war (I don't know the date) FL numbers with 6 numbers came up.

I saw a document from a member here (FW190) that shows the FL 400 001 dated July 1942.
So it's possible to say that the Blendspiegel didn't come up before this date for sure.

              Best regards,
              Lukas
