    officer tunic

    Hi,

today I saw a tunic without eagle, tabs and boards on a flea market.

One thing was strange. The tunic had a hanger for the dagger (I think original attached), but no pocket slit. Has someone a tunic with this kind of feature and can explane it to me, please?

We were talking about that kind of thing in that thread :

All the "options" are possible. I have myself a tunic without any slit and dagger hanger.

      Thanks.

But yours is a Feldwebel tunic, not an officer. And why the tunic I saw should have a dagger hanger, but no pocket slit? I don´t understand it.

I think, the early Fliegerdolch and the sword were worn through a pocket slit over the tunic, whereas the newer officer dagger was worn under the tunic.

So this officer could only wear his officer dagger, but no sword

Or did not every officer own a sword? But on parades a sword was prescribed.

You will need a book talking about regulations, then. Uniforms and traditions of the Luftwaffe Vol. 1 for example. I had one but I've sold it...

I have this one too : it has a dagger hanger (not visible on the photo) but no slit.

I don't know regulations, but today in collections, a few tunics does not feature the slit, among many which features it...
