So intended for crashed aircrews, a survivor supply (for winter use), right?

Absolutely correct. The LW fielded a number of different Emergency Rations. The contents of two types of the Winter Emergency Ration are shown in Rations of the German Wehrmacht Vol II. The contents of this container vary slightly from those in the book. Again a nice item for the person who eventually picked it up.

The portions listed in an allied intelligence report was:

<text>1 Portion of Knäckebrot (375 grams), 3 cartons.
<text>500 grams Zwieback in two linen bags
<text>4 cans of Pork 200 grams each
<text>2 cans of Schmaltz 200 grams each
<text>8 portions of Maggi soup cubes (50 grams each)
                  <text>3 packages of Scho-ka-kola 100 grams each
                  <text>10 packages of Dextro-Energen
                  <text>500 grams of Soup Cubes

Kossenbrot is the same as Knäckebrot .

I sell it outside of the WAF but the byer is a WAF-member too
He had seen some more detailled picturs of the Canister, although from the Packlist.

                    The price is equal

Nice can .. , but also massproduktion IMO .., it represents food for one man, not for a whole crew.
Point is that less of these survived or they were used post war for other things.., it was mainly part of the bigger boats/bomber planes.
Seems that bomber crew were in a much better position compared to fighter pilots when it comes to survival stuff.
The small Notverpflegung or Absprungverpflegung was a more personal item and stands on it own more or less, so it was taken home and stored in attics etc after war ..
I've seen 5 or 6 of these cans sofar, against about 2 times the Absprungverpflegung ..
The Absprungverpflegung is quite popular, don't know that about these large cans.

                              Good evening,
here even different versions of the emergency ration containers. I have two emergency ration container for 1 Man 4 Days - Winter. The difference is the content. The other two are halfround container. Early 1940 has no table of contents. Unfortunately, the other has no sign on the front. But here in such a WAF is also displayed. This has a nice sign on the front. The red sign that something can be seen, has the inscription -without compass. It is strange that this should be a compass at a emergency ration.
                              I wish a nice evening…
                              Esau ..

                              Guten Abend,
                              Esau..
