    Hi there,

Summer trousers would have been purchased with the tunic by the officer. I've seen many photos of them in wear - typical configurations include white tunic & white trousers or white tunic with continental trousers/breeches. I've not seen any photos that I can recall of a continental tunic or fliegerbluse with summer trousers, but I'm sure it happened.

Summer trousers could have been civilian - in this case, not tailored in the typical military configuration. You see many variations in style and configuration of continental trousers so the same existed with summer versions. Not too many Summer trousers seemed to have survived. They were optional at the time and surviving sets were either worn in civilian life and/or have been mislabeled as non-period.

    That's my sense,at least.
