    luftwaffe coat

    Any Thoughts

Hi Kevin, I'd ask for better pictures! From the picture at hand I'd say it has potential to be OK, an M40 pattern with pre-war 'silver' buttons. The rank devices don't seem to match, the collar patches look like Flight/ Fallschirmjager NCO rank (minus gulls?) for Unteroffizier and above, but the arm winkle is for an Obergefreiter. The shoulder straps are EM which don't match the collar tabs either. Possibly messed with but doesn't necessarily mean the base coat is not OK.

Again, better pictures are needed, with interior shots of the stamps etc.

    Regards, Paul

Hi, I have always been a skeptic as to the ranking of the coat. The coat looks ok to me but I would very much like to have your expert opinion. Would the right thing be to remove the shoulder boards and collar tabs?

can,t see any problems, don't remove anything. i do belive that earl collar tabs ,had litzen as standard , i had a flak one years back wish i still had it. am sure it has nothing to do with rank ? looks a very nice coat, a close up of collar tap application would be nice . thanks for posting martin .

The collar tabs were not attached, they were in the pocket of the coat at purchase

I was waching a documenatry earlier today where I saw the same coat. It seems to have the same type of shoulder boards.

                      Hi!

                      Something isn't right...

The chevron says "Obergefreiter" and the shoulder boards match with this as EM.

But the collar tabs are from Unteroffizier to Oberfeldwebel.

                      Best regards,
                      Lukas

Then I will remove the collar tabs. Do you think they a authentic ?

In my oppinion the tabs are authentic, but not to this coat.

I would place tabs with three gulls to this coat.

But please let's hear some more oppinions to the tabs as I had not any of these great coat tabs in my collection.

                            Best regards,
                            Lukas
