Looks quite sharp at front, but I think that this one is a cast fake..

Jos is perfectly right: a repro! These are in fact derived from the 2nd pattern Assmann bird and are found with different type of hardware and available fro different prices (depending on quality). I bought this type repro in silver (also available in gold) a while back from Reddick Militaria in the US for $20.00 just to compare. The front detail is actually better than an original (solid version) but the metal, finish and reverse hardware are very different. I have seen original versions of this bird in hollow stamped form, in semi hollow gold anodized aluminum mounted on cloth (KM/gold type only) and solid.

I havent found a hollow stamped version of the second type "A" bird yet but I am attaching a back picture of my silver repro like yours compared to an original solid type in gold and a front picture of the solid and aluminum cloth mounted version in gold
