    Hi folks,

1, Has anybody seen one of these before?

        Hallo David,

I have never seen this type of eagle before.
There are a few examples known like the Heer breast eagle, SS Sleeve eagle and foreign volunteer shields and rank insignia, all of them printed and late war.
Did you do the UV-Light test and the burning test ?
        What material is it ?
Does the material feels stiff or not ?

        Kind regards,

        Jeroen.

          Hi Jeroen,

          No glow under UV
          Burn test correct
          Some sort of cotton weave
No stiffness to the material at all.

I have had it about 20 years and have never seen another one.

its strange but it looks like a template but I thought these were made of card board.

This is the thing, if nobody has seen another what the hell is it?

As for being a templete, true they were from card but this is cloth and some of the detail is missing for that use, around the chest area for example.

I am waiting for either Jos, Harry, Patrick and others (sorry about the lack of names folks) to add their thoughts.

Willi I understand what you mean about not liking it, I have the same issues with about 95% of of original officers bullion eagles, I just cannot stand them.

Quick question, has anybody compared the cloth of the printed Army and SS eagles? Are they the same.

Also did they print Kreigsmarine eagles at all?

Only reason I am asking is if Army and SS, why not Luft and KM.

                      Thoughts please.

                          Thanks Pablo,

I see your cloth templete has a lot of detail to it, I am even more convinced now that my one is not a templete.

                          What the hell is it????

could it be some type of marking off a tent or tarp or some other cloth item that was simply cut out??

grasping at straws here... I don't like the way it looks, but do. if that makes sense?

The cloth and printing method are convincing but the eagle design seems odd unless it was some type of marking on a canvas or tent or tarp etc.

what are the dimensions of the eagle itself??

                              -Brian
