Just acquired today, a very nice 0.5Litre beer stein in remembrance of a soldier's service. It is marked with the following lettering:
"Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit / 30.Jan.-29.April 1939 / 4. Batterie L.Flak-Abt.75 / Kan. Artmeier Robert.". On the bottom are stamped into the ceramic a numeral "6" and what appears to be a letter which looks like "F", no doubt maker's marks.
This item once belonged to "Kanonier Robert Artmeier" who served with the 4th Battery Luftwaffe Flak Detachment 75. His period of service is only three months from end-January to end-April of 1939.
The pewter lid has a beautiful Luftwaffe eagle/swastika within a wreath of oakleaves.
No cracks, chips or other damage apart from fading of the lettering and flag in spots.
I hope that members enjoy seeing this lovely beer mug. All comments welcome.
Regards,
John
