I have always liked the shooting lanyards as I am a shooting and gun guy as well as a militaria collector. I have been looking for a high grade Luft lanyard for a good while and was able to pick this one up lately from a friend in England. Any comments as to the maker or other aspects are welcome. Love to see pics of your examples to for comparison! Ask if would like more pics, pics aren't to good today as I have the iPad so pics are from the phone.. Kevin

HI Kevin,
None of mine have backing material on the lanyards. I would need to pull them out of storage to get better pictures which I will try to do later.
If you have access to last year's copies of the International Military Collector Magazine (B&D publishing) there is a multi part article on the Luftwaffe lanyards by our own Nick Carraway. Several of my lanyards are pictured in the article.

Hi Kevin,
Great looking LW 11th grade Lanyard! I use Gary's photo as my reference point as I attempt to grow my collection. Only (3) so far, two Grade 2, one with acorn and one with flak shell, as well as a Grade 5. I hope to acquire something in the 9-12th Grade soon, however as you stated they are tough to find!
On another note, all of the images of high grade LW lanyards I have seen are always with acorns. Do any members own a high grade with the flak shell/s?
Please excuse the question as I do not want to hijack your thread, just expand the knowledge base of the high grade LW lanyards.
Best to All!

There are only a handful of known makers for the badge portion of the lanyard. The Deumer version was identified from sales catalog images; the Assman devices are actually marked on the reverse. The few other observed versions are of unknown manufacturer. It is all explained in the excellent article by Nick.
