    Lancaster bomber art

I dont know where else to post this. Ive been offered this nose art. It seems real. Does anyone see a problem with the materials used as obviously it should be cut from the plane. Any info, would be much appreciated. thanks

Is it fabric ? If I do not make a mistake, the nose was made of metal ; on the other hand, it looks old as expected. Maybe an other aircraft than specified ?

        Perhaps a Vickers Wellington?

I read they were made from Irish linen which to me looks to be what this is made of

It's not the best picture, but the "seams" in your example appear similar to the the lines created by the metal framework behind the fabric. Removed from the frame and smoothed out the lines would appear to match.

              And another.

It appears nose art on the Wimpy was not uncommon.

I found a picture of it. The beer mugs appear to have been cut off when it was taken as they dont line up. When I look at the picture the seller has sent, it appears the soldier had to cut around the beer mugs, possibly leaving two off

lol yes you are. The diamond pattern patch that is in the first pic I posted must be where a window might have been and taken out. There is a diamond window in the last pic you posted. The pic of my plane doesnt have the window ???

I think since the picture you found was taken near the end of its "life" the window had probably been removed and covered over as in the first picture you posted as you said. The repair just doesn't show up in the photo you found. It sure looks like that would be the location a window should be located.

It's a pretty cool piece! Its the first nose art from a British bomber I've seen outside of a museum
