One of the unfortunate results of erroneous information in reference books on uniforms is that people begin to accept it as fact. These trousers (which I too believe to be for the HJ Flakhelfer uniform) were identified in one of the "Bender" Luftwaffe series as HG blue Stug. pants. You can hardly blame someone for believing this to be true as they have seen it in print but it is, IMO, totally false.

Absolutely! Believe the Brian Davis Luftwaffe book correctly IDs them as HJ Flakhelfer trousers. Davis is correct, and Bender made a mistake. Research what you read in books before accepting as factually correct.

Yes, Davis' series does get it right. Bender did some great pioneer work on a number of 3rd Reich subjects, but like so many references he made mistakes.

The trousers shown may not be flak (I believe they are), but they are not assault gunner trousers. Still a nice looking pair.

        regards, Robert

I should note that Roger Bender was merely the publisher of this series and that John Angolia was, I believe, the author.
