Luftwaffe Fabric/cloth and metal cockade main difference...

    Hi!
Maybe this is a silly question...to fit a perfect rookie...

Just wondering what's the main difference between the two type of cockade...

The main difference of meaning between the fabric/cloth cockade and the metal one...

I got that the aspiring officers could wear the schirmmütze just like the actual officers...but if I got right they worn metal cockade on it...Didn't they?

So...was the fabric/cloth ones properly about actual officers schirmmütze?

Maybe I wrote something silly...but I'm here to learn!

    Thanks!

Metal winged kockades were for EM/NCO people, bullion ones, which is coiled silver wire, were for officers.
Also, EM/NCO caps had piping in the color of their branch, while all officers had silver piping.
In the later stage of war also officers sometimes wore the metal eagle and metal kockade on their visor .
A combination can be found with a NCO's, let's say a Oberfeldwebel who is ready to become a officer, he wears his NCO clothes up-graded with officer insignia ..
If you keep following the forum, you'll find out the differences.
