Looks convincing...definately a fliegerbluse cut, done in brown leather dyed blue/gray...Horn buttons, hardware does look period, so does the application of the shoulder board loops typically seen like this on leather garments...

If it is a fake the faker did his homework but it is old and used to I vote it has a chance, but why haven't we seen this type documented anywhere?
A one off custom made piece I assume... The Grayish color could also indicate maybe KM? Definately old well used on the outside.
Liner condition still looks terrific! Reminds me of American A2 flight jacket liners... but not relined I think...just wel preserved!

It indeed looks like this jacket was died or painted (Lw or km) grey, ref shoulder area?
          Any pics known?

            Looks custom made ..

For that price there better be some era pics of the owner to back things up .., instead of a long story over how brave and in how many battles this jacket must've been etc..

It's twice the price of a textbook Reichsverteidigungs jacket, I know which one I would prefer and save some extra money..

Agree with Jos. With this price not even worth considering if it is period or not.

I agree...over-priced but what if it can be proven to be a real period variation...
If a period picture had come with it he could probably get his asking price as it is so unique!
I can definately see a pilot taking his fliegerblouse to a tailor in leather goods wanting an exact copy for cockpit use...

Could have been done also in modern times of course but not with that kind of wear and aging and buttons/ranks straps etc accurately done...
I am pretty convinced its a legit one of a kind flight jacket based on that...
and if the asking price was 1/4 of that it would sell for sure.

                What do you think Bill?

Only $8500? Sounds like a steal to me. The only question is who would be stealing from whom? LOL!

The price is crazy but the jacket have a chance to be a good private made.
