Gentlemen. I acquired a lovely Luftwaffe LKp s101 Helmet today on which was a nice clean yellow cover.
This is the first cover I’ve handled and since I’ve no doubt these are massively faked, your opinions would be much appreciated.

        Best regards,

        Simon

              A big no ..

In all my years I might've seen only 1 original, and a 100 or more fakes ..
The fakes are quite fantasy, because good close-up pics and genuine examples are not to be found.
Most are bad copies, few are close, but no cigar ..
These items didn't make it, later pics don't show these caps anymore, think most found their way to the bin during war, hence we don't see them.
I've 1 or 2 pics to have a small idea how they should look seen from the back and they're more complicated than only a simple cover.

the one in question is a typical one invented in eastern countries, saw them first time in the 80's/90's, few different types, but all made of the same material, quite heavy cotton fabric, too heavy IMO, they lack certain details, they're just a bit of look a likes .
The elastic band used in these caps is modern stuff, I once checked one of these caps...
All have the kinda dusty look at places, also very typical to these fakes.
In the 90's they could be found at shows, later ebay was the place to get them, loads at first, today they are more "rare" to find.
A real one will be more rare than any item we've seen sofar IMO, so they're not for grabs or as a extra, unless one is lucky, but sofar didn't happen.
They're ultra rare and I think many of us are very curious to see the real deal, it's a item we never see, will find or have in the collection.
I hope that you didn't pay big price for it, for it's worth about 25 euro or something similar IMO.

              Jos.
