    Very accurate portrayal

I was watching an episode of "Air Aces" on the history channel the other day and this US ace crashed in France and was captured by the Germans. Here we have the VERY ACCURATE portrayal of a couple of Kanoniers or Leutnants (depending on what part of the uniform you're looking at) escorting the airman back to base.

Enjoy the attention to detail that went into recreating these uniforms.

All too typical of the History Channel, or the Military Channel as well. I admit to being a nitpicker, but these shows have some truly excrable images and re-enactors onscreen.
Sad that many folks may actually take these poorly produced shows at face value; it's an insult to actual history. The " dumbing down" of history.
I will admit that I enjoy "Dogfights"; those episodes seem to be relatively authentic.

Well at least nobody will try to sell us this crap as nice original pieces. Well maybe they will try ...

Are those attempts at gulls on those collar tabs or are they mushrooms?

I also like the jumpsuit the captured allied airman is wearing. Maybe he went through some kind of time warp and had his F-16 jet aircraft shot down.

Good eye! Yikes!!! With a modern Velcro Wing patch on a Nomex fire retardent flight suit! !

Some Velcro trivia (from the web) :
The hook-loop fastener was invented in 1948 by Swiss engineer, Georges de Mestral who lived in Commugny, Switzerland. The idea came to him in 1941 after returning from a hunting trip with his dog in the Alps. He took a close look at the burrs (seeds) that kept sticking to his clothes and his dog's fur. He examined them under a microscope, and noted their hundreds of "hooks" that caught on anything with a loop, such as clothing, animal fur, or hair. He spent several years perfecting the method.

                Yikes!

You would think that they would and probably could pay more attention to getting correct insignia, tunics, waffenrocks, and equipment. Reminds me of the old Combat television series episodes with the Gargantuan, ugly breast eagles worn by the Heer EM's.

it makes me think of a movie or mini series I once watched the first 10 minutes of, until a guy dressed up to look like Herman Göring surrender to the Americans handing over a SS dagger....then I turned it off

                              Cheers
