This eagle was sent to me for study by a very considerate member. Some do not like it; I do, and I think it is authentic. I sent detailed photos of it to two long time collectors who's opinions I have deep respect for. Both said they felt it was authentic and one told me something I had not thought of, he said this eagle is not tropical, I thought about it and agree with him. If we are wrong and this is a reproduction, it is very bad news as far as the quality of fakes is concerned!

Hi John,

I think you credit me with too much insight......but as I understand it .... this is an early ( pre-war ? ) eagle, assuming it is genuine ! I don't think the Luftwaffe began making tropical kit until it was too late ( 1941 ?). So, if both these are true...it would mean this eagle was for a tan coloured, pre-war uniform.
What our your thoughts...PM me if you want.

Well, you didn't take the path I assumed you would but we can discuss it here. No, this isn't a prewar breast eagle. Here is another example of why is isn't. You can PM me on where you got this idea from, please.
