    IMO, NCOs sometimes wore them.

This one is a bit odd. Looks like a late-war, thin cotton cap eagle. I am just a bit concerned about the lack of the usual double strands on the wings. Any thoughts?

Steve, I recently found the same eagle with the same missing detail. All the other features are textbook. I am sure you are aware that it is exactly like the breast eagles we encounter on that same cotton twill backing.

It's a real eagle Steve. Multi colored thread on the rear, double strands on the wings, etc. are all good "indicators" but are not fool proof keys for authenticity. There are a lot of bizarre looking, yet authentic cap eagles.

                  LW Breast Eagle

Greetings from the Brit (& C'wealth) Forum. I'm totally out of my depth here - and this is something I've ctiticised others doing in the past. I'll cut to the chase: repro... or pukka (from what I've seen here, I 'think' it's a wartime piece)? And.. erm ...value? Yeah I know. In advance... cheers!

PS: Why isn't this superb thread pinned?

                      Luftwaffe Breast Eagles

                      Hi

Found these on a dealers site.

What are the views, I may be convinced to spend a few pounds.

                              Hi Leeb,

Most, if not all, are reproductions. Save your money.
                              Regards,

Jos, excellent work! Have you one of these in your collection?
