I like the first two sets even though the boards are not matching in the 2nd set. I think the mismatched gulls are fine.

The Major's boards look very nice but I agree that the tabs fall into the double chevron category - also illustrated by the wide eagles touching the sides of the wreath.

I don't think anybody came to any conclusion on the chevron debate.

I handled a set of flight Leutnant double chevron tabs a few years ago ... they felt somewhat wrong, I can't exactly tell the reason why.

Of course I may err, but IMO they are reproductions from the 70s. I do not want them in my collection.

I am ofcourse seriously worried about the Major-set. I recon they look just like the ones you had..?..

        Cheers,

        Hi Hans,

Yes the Major tabs exhibit all of the features of the double chevron tabs: double chevrons, wings touching the wreath, reverse fold of flaps and the sewing of the extra piping on the reverse.

I think it's safe to say there are a few of us that have decided these are no good but continue to hope for evidence to the contrary. Reading this thread I was hoping for a pic of the major wearing this insignia at the end. Other than the $500mil lottery, a clear pic of the dreaded dbl chvrn insignia in wear is what I want from Santa.
