There's one of these German fur caps on eBay right now. One problem with this type of fur hat is that there is a wartime Swedish fur hat that is nearly identical to the German version. I've seen a few originals and a few fakes (Swedish hats with German badges). All of them were virtually unused.

          Hi all,
getting back to a point that Ade raised, is this an army eagle sewn to the front or is it a version worn by customs personell ? as the wing tips look curved as apposed to `flat ended` which is what i consider to be Heer.
Are those oak leaves not an Imperial pattern / maybe Austrian?? -not trying to put the piece down just my observations .

I agree. In fact I believe most of the nordic countries have a version or
two of these caps out there. I've seen several surface from time to time
with original or repro german insignia attached. Trouble is, I don't know
what's what in this area, so I may have passed on some good ones.

              Bill's certainly looks good. Like Ade, I've never seen a Custom's Official's
eagle in T-form before. Very unique.

                Fur cap

                Robb,

I am not sure if the one on eBay is original or a Swedish example. I've handled a few of these, with Polizei, Heer eagles etc., but never really felt comfortable to purchase one. I quit collecting German headgear (only collect US WWII M1s now), so didn't really bother to keep track of all nuances of these caps.
                Best regards,
                Cesar.

P.S.: I really like it when you imitate the German NCO addressing his men in the forum.

I Have Not Seen Another Of These Since I Sold My First Headgear Collection In 1972. I Had The Identical Customs Winter Hat That I Picked Up In The Early 60's In A Grouping Of Things I Bought From A Vet. I Do Not Think These Are Encountered Often. A Nice Piece And Thanks For Sharing.
