Hi Greg, not my area, but the swas is certainly small for a Cape eagle. Looking forward to what Gene and Jos think.

Hmm, I do like the bullion work and the felt backing, but yes, the small swas makes it a odd looking bird, plus the swas' angle is wrong, not perpendicular to the line between the tip of the wings.

From those pics I've got to say that i like it, very odd but the way the bullion is done doesn't look like a pakistani repop more like original wartime cap and breast eagles. Have you blacklighted it?

you might as well toss angolias book in the bin,, his books are full of known fakes . You told me the source of this eagle and it explains alot,,,
why not tell the forum where this came from maybe it will give you some more answers,,,,this one is a no brainer to me,,,,

better yet,,email john Cassino and see what he says!

wheres the detail stiching to the feathers?
wheres the highlights in the upper wing areas?

Mine's admittedly a 'big one' but General's can get away with damn near anything.

I agree - Casino is your guy for cloth.

Thanks John and the others for all the input so far, I know we all have our opinions based on what we know as individuals, and thats what Im looking for hopefully we will get some more input from Niblets recomendations.

                        regards

The first time I read that. Why not, there are often fakes in books. Which book has no fakes ? But I will not throw mine away yet, I've paid near 100$ for it.

I like the symmetry and bullion work but that swastika size is perplexing. I'd have to examine this in hand to say good or not for sure, but for argument's sake I'll say 51/49 good.

                              Hi Greg,

As you can see, there are some differening opinions here. But even some of the more advanced guys are on the fence. I would pass on this eagle, personally. Yes, there were/are variations of cape eagles, but your example doesn't have the impeccable quality in all the genuine cape eagles I've seen thus far (to be fair, you don't see that many of these).

Here are two additional, genuine examples. One is from my cape, the other is from one I do not own.

                              Best regards,

                              Jason
