Luftwaffe EM M43 Fieldcap: real or fake?

    Hello guys,
a couple of years ago I bought this fieldcap from an American auctions site ( probably you can recognize it from the photos ) as original like many other items I bought from them. Now, an italian collector told me that in his opinion the capi isn't original.
What do you think about? Thanks a lot in advance.

Does the stitching on the trapezoid penetrate the lining?

How many years ago (approximately), in numbers, is "a couple"?

Are the backs (reverse) of the buttons hollow?

Is there any evidence of mothing to the nape of the fabric?

The button holes look cut-after but it would be necessary to see them better

I mean the cap came in 2009. Here below a lot of particulars that I think could be useful:

            That is my thought too.

Anyway, if the button holes are cut-after, run away. I can't see from the pictures, but they have not the key hole shape.

Mint items turn up so IMO it would be wrong to judge the cap bad only for being minty.

I´m no expert and only have one M43 LW cap, but this cap is different in the choice of thread used in the sewing. But then again it was not made by the same marker as mine.

Anyone have a M43 LW from the marker above to use in comparison???

                Cheers
                Lars

I tried to google the RBNr.0/0688/0039 but could not find anything on the number except this but IMO worthless:

As stated the construction of cap is very good, internal lineing looks a shade light but this could be the photo, has any body seen a trap luft insignia that is the same design as on cap we have all seen minty caps, by more familar mm, would love to be wrong but top end copy comes to mind. but remain open , would like to see a few more caps in different states of condition of the sme design befor i parted with good money to have this one in my collection. thanks for posting martin.

i have never seen this Rb # in a luftwaffe cap but the font looks the same on this wrapper,
#1 just because it looks new doesnt mean its fake
#2 button holes were made this way on many caps
#3 the liner color may be off due to the lighting
#4 interesting cap ,i like a lot of the features on this cap ,and a few i am sceptical about
#5 correct material were used in its construction imo
#6 according to the link Lars posted http://www.wehrmacht-info.com/uni_marcajes.html the rb# corrisponds with the manufature of wrappers ,if it is a hi end fake its a dam good one, this one would need a hands on for me

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

                          M43

The lining needs another shot at. The color is not good due to the picture quality/lighting. Good construction, thread wieght/size, and material all appears convincing. As far as 'made yesterday', so what, the "mintier' the better! The only issue, is the size MM, is the 7 crossed, or just bleeding of ink. Please post more pics of lining and MM. 'Nice hat Harry"!

                              M43 cap

This cap is like the luft m43 that came up for sale 2years ago. Story goes they were found in old flak tower. same stich on trap, but herringbone lnside and no rb nr. I think they got the thumbs down. As said high end fake, i think there is army m43,s with same type of stich on the trap. Paul.
