    Two Flight Boards

I'd appreciate opinions on these two boards.

The first is on a tunic that is itself legitimate. The gulls are quite small, but the verticality of the gull stitching bothers me.

This second example is anomalous to me given the yellow base material. It's smoother than routine, and has almost a shine to it. Try to ignore the handstitched gull (if possible!) for purposes of evaluating the tab itself.

            Hi,

FYI, for a very limited time period the Luftwaffe utilized silk as the base material for tabs. Check to see if this is silk. Even at this time not all waffenfarbes were authorized to be produced in silk.

That might explain the sheen and smooth appearance.

              Gary,

That is something I didn't know, and the base material is indeed silk. The fliegerbluse also has a nice early droop tail bullion eagle, so the time frame fits.

              Thanks!

I would concur that these both look ok.

                Best,

                J-
