I have always thought/assumed that Luftwaffe Saharianas were either privately tailored items, or individually modified from SS or Italian Saharianas. (Such as the modified SS one on posts 31, 38-41 of this thread - http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...affe+sahariana
However I have found this item on Oakleaf Militaria, which is purportedly factory produced and unissued, and appears to be similar in construction to 2nd pattern SS models:
More details here: http://www.oakleafmilitaria.com/1102u1.html
and here: http://www.oakleafmilitaria.com/germ...#Luft%20tunics
I know Oakleaf have a mixed reputation on here, and whether or not this particular one is legit, I am interested in establishing:
1) If factory produced Saharianas were made for the Luftwaffe in this "2nd pattern SS style"..?
2) When they entered production.
3) If anyone has established if any particular unit(s) were issued them, preferably from original photographic evidence (I've failed to find any so far myself) - e.g. as the HG Div used some SS camo, is it likely they were intended for HG use, or just generally issued to any Lufty units along with more conventional LW tropical tunics....?
Cheers,
Ade
