Need help to identify plane part...

    Hi
We received this part at our museum, the guy that brought it in caught it with a fishing rod in a fjord close to Stavanger, Norway.
Could you help me identify the plane type it belongs to, or at least the nationality?

Am I right in thinking it's part of the leading edge of the wing?

    Thanks
    Asbjørn

Yes it could be, or the edge of the tail fin

The remains of the yellow-green paint remind me of zinc chromate which was applied to inside surfaces of US aircraft but I think the British used a very similar type color (if not zinc chromate) as an inner primer or rust preventative.
I guess I'd lean towards it being from an allied aircraft.
