Leather flight helmet

Seen these several times, but what I don't understand about them are the empty ear cups.
There're caps without ear cups and there're caps with radio equipment, no clue about these, it seems that the radio equipment has been removed, same with the throat mics and long cable ..

What would the value be?

Hi Bernie, This is the winter Luft flight helmet, the LKp W101 introduced in 1938. You see a lot like this with the throat mics and earphones removed, I think they were used after the war by people with motorbikes and classis cars! I have one like this also, the quality of the leather is so good I can see why this happened. It looks like yours is a very large size 61.
