    HG/Mechanic LW eagle

First is it any way to tell the difference between the mechanic and HG eagle?

Second has anyone seen an eagle like this before. The part above the swas, the complete eagle, has two layers of black cloth. Some sort of fabrication error I suppose.

Is that a breast or a cap eagle? I believe mechanics wouldn't have an eagle on their caps. Here is my LW black cap eagle:

        It's 75 mm so I guess for a cap.

There is a definitive way to tell the difference between the two...
If you are BUYING 1 it is a mechanics eagle...
If you are SELLING 1 it is HG PANZER...
          hope this helps..

I have always been under the impression that LW mechanics had the eagle on their caps but not the cockade.

Agree completely. They are exactly the same, used for both purposes.

Ops, perhaps it was the cocade they didn't have and not the eagle...sorry

Here is a photo of a panzerman. I was trying to up load a mechanics cap but couldn't. Keep on trying.

mechanic cap with cocade added for obvious reasons (source Ebay):

Yeah, this guy was trying to make a LW mechanics cap into a HG divsion sidecap for financial gain. The only problems are LW mechanics caps were made out a denim-like material, never had a cockade (I just they didn't want the national tri-colors to get dirty) and never had the colored soutaches like the Heer sidecaps. A total fantasy piece of crap!

No doubt there is also period use by an HG panzermann of these hard wearing lightweight caps..BUT unless you pull it out of the veterans dufflebag not something you want to pay a premium for... Billbert
