The fellow that took the pics said they are Japanese.. but why would they have a KM on them..

Wouldnt the characters be in Japanese??

Yours look like goggles for civilain drivers, but could also been used by WWI pilots (v. Richthofen wore a simular type during his last flight), various types were used back then.
