    Luftwaffe pilots seat pack parachute

I just recieved these two photos from a guy who wants me to make him an offer on his parachute. Does anybody know what type aircraft and position it was used for and what a fair offer would be. All I have to go on is these two photos so far. It's a 4 hour drive to pair up with him and I do not wish to go home empty handed. I know it's pricey but really have not clue, $1,500-2,500 is my guess, but I could be wrong. I'd also say it for a trainer or fighter type aircraft but I'm not sure.

Can't tell if it's complete, but if it is, think higher with respect to price.....

It also bugs me when sellers want the prosective buyer to make an offer. It's lose-lose for the buyer: you'll often either lowball him and he'll pass or you'll overshoot.

Is the canopy intact with all risers intact as well?

The ripcord doesn't seem to be there anymore which should mean that the canopy is gone. Beautiful harness. Is the seat cushion still there? The booklet?

          Sure!

The price depends if is complete or not. By the pics is difficult to say if the bag still carried the canopy, lines etc... The lack of the release handle , don't speak nothing of good... Togheter, with the bad position of the elastic lines, the shape of the bag ( that let imagine to a canopy, if is still there, bad folded), and the lack of safety 'stop' (is not clear if it not there), let me know to an incomplete rig...

But is really difficult say with this pics...

However, as Pierre say, beautyful harness!

          Cheers!

            For a better explaination:

            Here's a complet seat chute.

            Red circle: release handle.

            Green circle: safety 'stop' strap.

yellow circle: seat cushion (don't visible on your pics).

            Hope this help, Cheers!

Thanks for the info, it's a good starting point when I see it up close. As I said, all I have to go on right now is the pictures that he sent. I have no idea if the canopy and risers are attached. He said he thinks the canopy is in it, but is not sure. I do not want to educate him to much. He said and old man gave it to him along with some Nazi armbands and a flag.

I hate making offers, but if I ask him to sent a price, he many get on the internet and search for one. I'd rather play interested but a bit dumb and when I see him in person, pull out a pill of cash.

Any idea on what type of aircraft used this chute, I still think trainer or fighter.

                Ok, good luck with it!

However the lack of release handle, tells lots... And is quite difficult inspecting the canopy inside its transport bag. Don't try to open, because if could be very difficult to re-pack without pertinent tools (if inside there's an original silk, folded till the 40s)! You can only take a look between the fold of it. If the silk is original to the chute is accurately folded... and under have to get its white linines.. Not really easy, if you don't know this kind of rigs...

There's no a particular type of plane that this chute was used in. Could be appropriate for lots kind of aircraft...

                Cheers!

                  I forget...

Also the bungee cords are not propriely put on... All tells abou a 'treat' rig...
