Officer aspirant caps had branch piping; this is an officer's cap with enlisted insignia

Thanks! Is it possible that such a cap was worn with cheap insignia like on this example?

        Gene was right!

Aspirant wore NCO schirmmutze with the officer cordon add.

All could be happened! Nobody of us was then in german (fortunately) and the cap could be worned with metal insigna. For sure wasn't born in this way, but with its bullion badges.

        Cheers!

          Thanks for your help!

I can't see any remains of the stitching of previous insignia. Maybe an un-issued cap?

            Very difficult to say...

If the cap doesn't have had an 'operative life', and it's come to us in almost new condition, the stiching could be almost invisible....

Or the cap was worn in the WWII in this feature.

            Cheers!

This is an officer's cap through and through. It's a private purchase through Carl Halfar, but with OR/NCO insignia. I'm sure there are period photos of this OR/NCO insignia used on officers visor caps, but it's more the exception than the rule. If the officer could afford the private purchse, he certainly could afford the typical bullion insignia, which is most often seen.

In this case I would want inspect the hat very carefully upon receipt, including meticulous inspection of the mohair band, sweatband and interior of the cockade and so forth, to insure it hasn't been tampered with. It's possible someone popped the metal insignia onto an unfinished cap, but it's also possible that an officer simply chose that combination. You just want to be sure you know what it is, and that it fits within the boundaries of what you're looking for.

                      Thanks Jason and Frank.

Does anyone else has any information about EM/NCO insignia on a officers cap? Should I remove the insignia? What's the value of the cap with the present configuration?

Don't remove, like said, some officer caps came in this configuration, I also have one ..
Even Oberfahnrich were allowed to buy officer's caps IMO.

Here's a pic of a white one with metal insignia.

                          Thanks!
